My Favorite Quilt

It didn't take long after sewing the binding on, for this quilt to become a favorite in our house. We have a few quilts (bought not handmade) and although this is handmade (which automatically makes it better), it's the happy fabric and the surprising softness that our other quilts lack. The quilt seemed so stiff just like our other ones when I finished it, but after throwing it in the washer and dryer to get all that puckering goodness, I was amazed at how snugly soft it had become. I have been sleeping with my new blanket for a few nights now and have found myself curled up with it all over the house. Usually a little boy is hugging the quilt at my legs or trying to snuggle inside with me. Both Jackson and I are sick and have been for a week now, we have definitely found some comfort wrapped in this blanket.:: Avalon Pattern from the book Material Obsessions / Twin Size Quilt
:: White sashing ~ Muslin
:: Fabrics used~ Pop Daisy by Heather Bailey, Owls Timeless Treasures Apple line, Good Folks by Anna Marie Horner, Garden Party by Anna Marie Horner, and Spotted Owl by Alexander Henry
:: Backing~ Centerpiece in Teal by Anna Marie Horner from Garden Party collection
:: Binding~ Polka line in Green by Anna Marie Horner from Garden Party collection
:: Cotton Batting
I'm already dreaming up ideas for more quilts. I'd like to make a picnic quilt possibly using some of these fabrics, and eventually I'd like to make a twin size quilt (I like this fabric as of now) for Jackson once he moves out of his crib, hopefully I have a while to make that one.

The quilt is beautiful! I didn't remember seeing the fabric you used for the back. Like all the fabrics you chose, it's gorgeous.

I'm so sorry to hear you and your little one have been feeling a bit under the weather! Snuggle up, rest and get well soon.

And I love your new blog design, too. :)

Peace out and sunshine for well being!

You're right Ana, I did save the backing as a surprise. The fabric I chose for the back was actually the first fabric I feel in love with that I based all the other colors and fabric choices around. So I knew it had to be used for the entire back.

It really turned out beautiful...

I'm being drawn more and more to the idea of large swatches of fabric being sashed for a simply divine quilt top--and yours is a fine example of this. It's fun to see the fabrics in large pieces--to enjoy them and the artists' talents.

Thanks!

I used the same pattern for a picnic quilt. It looks totally different, of course. My fabric choices were made to not show dirt.

I really love the fabric that you used. Gorgeous.
